Description of Classes
Please note: Students must contact the appropriate instructor(s) to sign up for classes. This must be done prior to the start of class. No drop-ins are accepted. No carry-over of missed classes will be accepted.

Beginner’s Agility ($80 for 7 week course meets on Tuesday nights at 6:30)
Instructor: Laura Feldt
This class is open to dogs and handlers new to agility. They will be introduced to all of the agility equipment, both on and off lead. Any exposure to the contact equipment will be at below normal height for the safety of the dogs. This emphasis of this class is to promote comfort and confidence on all the equipment. LIMIT 8-10 dogs

Prerequisite: All dogs enrolling in this class must have had a foundation obedience class, and a reliable recall. Pre-registration is required.

Beginner’s Agility II / Competition Beginner’s($80 for 7 week course meets on Monday nights at 7:30 pm)
Instructor: April Laslie
This class is open to dogs and handlers that want to build a strong foundation in jumping and contat skills. Weave poles will be introduced, as well as “handling between the obstacles”. These skills will be broken down and explained how and when to use.

Prerequisite: All dogs enrolling in this class must have had prior exposure to all agility obstacles and be comfortable with all other equipment, excluding weave poles.

Beginner Agility III ($75 for 7 week course meets on Wednesday nights at 6:30 pm)
Instructors: Kathy Metcalf, Hilary Karrer, & Adrian Rowan
This class is open to dogs and handlers that want to continue to build a stronger agility performance. Major emphasis will be on reliable contacts (bldg to competition height), strong weave pole performances, and short sequences incorporation handling skill that were introduced in Beginner Agility II

Prerequisite: All dogs enrolling in this class are comfortable and confident with all the agility equipment, including weave poles and understand and can perform the skills introduced in Beginner Agility II. ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

Intermediate Agility ($75 for 7 week course meets on Monday nights at 6:30 pm)
Instructors: Vicki Smith & Pam Karcher
This class is open to all dogs and handlers that want to fine tune their handling skills and improve their dog’s obstacle performances. Dog and handlers will learn to navigate small sequences of obstacles, and to build upon the skill needed to successfully run a Novice/Open course.

Prerequisite: All dogs and handlers enrolling in this class must have a clear understanding and proficient performance of all the agility equipment, including weave poles.

Advanced /Competition Agility ($70 for 7 week course meets on Thursday nights at 6:40 pm)
Instructors: Georgette LaPorte & Cathy McKenzie
This class is open to all dogs and handlers that are competing at the Open/Excellent level. Challenging sequences will be presented and explained so dogs and handlers can expand and master effective and efficient handling skill suitable for advanced competition. Remedial work will be addressed as needed.

Prerequisite: All dogs and handlers enrolling in this class must have a solid obstacle performance and be actively competing in the Open /Excellent level.

Specialty Classes: 4 week courses (contact us for starting dates and times)

Weave poles – 2 x 2 method will be used
(You must have access to weave poles to practice in between classes)

Jumping & Flat Work Foundation – handlers will be presented with how to teach their dog to jump correctly. Flat work for handling “in between jumps” will be introduced.

(You must have access to a single jump to practice with in between classes.)

Contacts – Having trouble with contacts? Ths is your chance to train or do remedial work with your dog. Concentration will be on contacts only.

( You must have access to a training board or contact equipment to practice with in between classes.)
